Speedlites for Nikon

Ok...Looks like I'll start another thread. I had NO clue about where to begin with Nikon speedlighting.

How about if we list speedlites for Nikon and camera compatibility. I want to include 3rd party speedlites as well.

I Just unboxed a Mieke MK910, a Yongnuo YN-622N-TX and a YN-622N. INSTANT - wireless flash capabilities with TTL and Manual control over the flash! I'll be picking up another Mieke 910!

Yea, currently I am wondering which Neewer or Yongnuo version speedlite is equivalent to 580ex ii on the Nikon side (that includes iTTl) mainly because it looks like getting the Nikon branded equivalent (Sb900 or SB910) is a much more expensive proposal...

I'm looking at getting Yongnuo YN-622N-TX/YN-622N/YN-568EX to do what you have done. Are you getting good range and performance with the triggers? Any misfire issues?

I haven't used it too much, and now my D750 is sitting at Nikon for the "flare issue" to be fixed.

When I did use it there were no misfires but I was only 10-12 feet away from the flash.

Just keep the flash set to "ttl" and you'll have complete manual control (if you want manual) of the flash from the TX unit.

Thanks. I think I'll just give it a go. For the way I want to use these I can't imagine being more than 20 feet.

Has anyone tried out the YN685? On camera and/or off?

I'm using a Metz 44 AF-1 digital and a Metz 50 AF-1 digital. Still learning flash, but these two seem pretty decent (bought them second-hand for a good price) and compatible with my D7100.

I haven't used that flash, but if its like my 568ex it will be excellent. I'll be switching to Godox speedlights when the ones I want become available for Nikon. So I'll have my YN568EX and my Meike Mk 910 for sale if any one is interested.

Funny, because I have the YN568EX + 622 + 622TX and am going to add the new YN685 to this mix or sell my current stuff and go with Godox also.

For the Godox I was looking at the X1T + TT685. Which ones are you waiting for?

They are the Adorama brand but I'd buy from Cheetahstand too. But neither has them. I started out, just on a lark, getting the manual version of the Flashpoint 360 when they were on sale. They offered so much power over a speed light and were LESS expensive than a stinking Nikon SB910!

So since the X1 24GHz system has come along I'm going to get 2 of the Godox speed lights above just for compatibility and ease of triggering off camera. I like the idea of TTL in a speed light because of portability.

Oh yeah, same as the TT685 except it uses the Lithium-Ion battery?

The value of those 360s does seem excellent. Looks like Godox has added TTL in the 360II.

I see that Amazon has the X1N TTL triggers and the TT685N available...looks like I am going the Godox route.

So, I ended up getting a V860 and X1 from Cheetah Stand. Nice unit and good build quality. I have not used it much yet but have found that when used off camera in wireless slave manual mode, triggered with the X1, that it does not fire a TTL-like pre flash like the YN568/622TX does. So now I can use my light meter when I use OCF manual mode...wooohoo!

I went with Yongnuo and have been used YN622tx and YN622s with all my flashes, SB910, Godox 360, Einstein E640, just to trigger all flashes and it's been working fine so far with pretty reasonable price.
