Beautiful shot, the Pines and Snow make for great surroundings for your deer photos.

Thanks Steve. The filtered light is about as good as it gets in this area. The mountains are pretty steep around here. Either you have no light or harsh light.ߘ

Not sure if I was in danger, but I did get a little wet;

Hmm, so that wasn't dangerous enough.
Maybe risking this guy dropping out of the tree onto my head?

lol… too funny.. Ya know when I started this thread it was about people baiting and using food to manipulate wildlife so they could get what they thought was the shot they wanted. Somewhere along the line it has morphed into the danger zone. lol

If you were crouched down flat on the ground rapped in bacon I could give it to you jake lol. but I'm thinking you were in a jeep with the 500mm and the 2x or 1.4 on and and the guide at the wheel… lmao

If not We All want to here the story. lol heck I want to here it anyway..

I should also add, I am not the photog I was back a few years ago. I'm way more critical about my images and others as well I think. I've grown out of shooting 1000's of images just to use a small few. I can't afford to use photography to drag me around the world to get those great images of Africa. I wish but its not happening.

The Elephant and the big cats would be awesome I'm sure. A-lass I must settle for the north american dangerous creatures.

Like the tiny does that visit in the winter lol Their killers for sure. lol

It was more like this, to be sure...

...But we don't use a guide, so on this day, I think I was driving.

Spotting it was definitely the fun part;

...and yes, I took that photo knowing it was there. I've missed enough opportunities that I ALWAYS take the first sighting shot of a rare beasty even if it's of no use, as IF that's the only shot I get, it will do :)

I do at least get points for getting the forearm in focus :)

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Ya I was completely conflicted about the baiting thing so I just started with this…. the back story is big and I didn't get into it then and I'm not doing it now… You'll just have to take my word for it. Going back to page one is not remembering lol its doing research.

Honestly if you start with a rant on forums no one cares to look. This was at the peak of camera sales for all brands and every ding o ling was out throwing food and baiting wildlife for a shot.
I for one am glad 100,000 million of them each year are using phones now. I can only hope the numbers decline for the next few years.

What you can't see is the dozens of people swarming all over this field. There were 6 sows with two or three cubs each. Just because the thread went in a different direction in the beginning does not change my intentions.

but you are right.. the first few pages people loved the closeness and danger of the images posted. Sometimes ya just have to go with it.

Thanks for being you Tom.. Have a nice day.

Was this and your elephant shot from one of your African safaris? Was this a recent trip or from a while back?
