Just because it's sitting right there!

This Hairy Woodpecker was staying still, trying to avoid being someone's lunch. I never saw the culprit, just the fact that all the birds became motionless. Ms. Hairy was only about 3 feet from my window, and even the cat jumping into the windowsill right next to her didn't make her flinch. She only blinked now and then.

Same shot, but with Color Efex "Sunshine" added as a preset.

Taken with the Canon 24-104 lens on a 60D.

Red Breasted Nuthatch with a bit of glare just to be different. When shooting from a different angle I can avoid the glare of the window.

Good stuff. I definitely have to clean my window. Missed a couple chances at a Clark's Nutcracker the last two days.

Thanks Dan! Never seem to have the right lens on when I need it. If I'm using the 400, the birds are too close and they won't fit in the frame, or it won't focus close enough!

Thanks Mel. For me, glare is more of an issue than clean windows, but just changing my angle slightly usually does the trick. Good luck capturing that Clark's Nutcracker!

Great set Sandy. I think I prefer the Woodie without the sunshine.

Great shots, Sandy. I have the 24-105, but it's typically my indoor lens. But you were indoors. Lol.
