Hi Friends,
Yesterday I saw an ad in Craiglist- Sigma 30mm f1.4 non art version for sale for $240.. as the seller highlighted it is 2 years old, no box or hood.. moving to Full Frame is it worth?
I thought to check before I make a move.

it will vignette on full frame but that's a reasonable price, maybe offer a little less after you check it out

That lens is designed for a crop sensor. It will mount on a full frame body (unlike Canon's EF-S lenses), but it will vignette quite a bit.

If you are interested in that focal length for a full frame body, Canon makes a EF 28mm f/1.8. It is an older lens, but still is decent. I originally purchased the 28 f/1.8 to use on a crop 7D, but tried it a few times after purchasing a 5D3. It worked well, but I didn't have much use for a fast wide angle prime lens so I ended up selling it.

Good question. I originally read it as the the OP was moving to full frame, but upon re-reading the post, it could be interpreted either way.

What's the verdict? to go or not to go?
I just spoke 2 the seller and he says max he would go for is $230 since I had mentioned that there was no box and no hood. and agreed to go for the lowest price which is $230.

I'd buy it in a second if I could test it on my camera before handing money over. I wouldn't buy it unless I could.

X2. Try it out first as that lens is notorious for focus issues. I had that lens on my Rebel XS (1000D) and my current T4i with no issues. Was on my body most of the time, loved the lens.

Very nice lens. I think, most of them need to go to sigma repair center for focus calibration. If you have MFA, probably that is fine. I got it fixed mine from Sigma.
