Had the opportunity to work with some custom armored vehicles. Really awesome to know these things can with stand heavy machine gun fire, grenades to name a few, and still look totally pedestrian. Windows are about 2 inches thick, customs wheels to handle the new weight of the car, and until you open the door, nothing looks out of the ordinary.

The Speed Channel has run a couple of programs showing what they go through being converted & it's pretty impressive. The amount of labour to fully dismantle, modify & re assemble alone has to be rather expensive & then add in all the custom made stuff.

Exactly right, a lot of work goes into the cars, and the final price tag easily reflects that.

I'm fortunate in that I fully understand what it takes to do the work when watching the shows about it because my day job is Corvette / Camaro restoration. Dismantling the older cars is pretty simple compared to modern cars filled with computers & air bags etc.
