A Red-Tailed Hawk (shutter speed not quite fast)

The other day I was out chasing these guys around the area, trying to get a great shot and this shot would have been 100% perfect had I not made the mistake of having the shutter speed to slow a rookie mistake but now I know and will be ready next weekend. Here is the shot that would have been perfect.

Good shot, you have the head in focus and draws attention to it.

I am with Dan on this. The head is in focus and that it the most preferable. Well done with a slow shutter speed.

Thanks, I noticed that too though I wish it could have been more focused and I forgot to mention that this is a crop. ISO was 100, lens fully extended to 270mm, f/6.3 and 1/200 sec. The original was this:

Sounds like something I do all the time! It's still a nice shot, but I think you might have a bit of camera shake too. When looking at the trees, they look blurred more than what a 6.3 aperture would cause. I could be wrong...wouldn't be the first time!

I honestly don't remember, I was "chasing" the hawk with my camera from the moment he readied himself to take off from the branch to until all I could see was his tail feathers, I guess in a way I was panning..... all while stopping my vehicle, trying not to land in a ditch
