At the arcade

I hate these places with passion... but my kids love them. Go figure

Taken at a friends' kid's birthday party. The lighting was challenging to say the least. Didn't want to use a flash so opened the lens practically wide open at f2, and further lifted shadows on the face in C1P. The hardest part was fixing WB.

How did this come out ? Any pointers for taking the available light shots in places like this ?

Good separation of the subject from the background. His skin tone looks a little green on my monitor. His facial expression doesn't seem to suggest that he's having a good time. Perhaps try to get a shot where he's not posing for the camera. Maybe trying to hawk some of those tickets to another.

The problem shooting in a place with a lot of color cast like an arcade is that it's going to be hard to capture a shot with a good color tone. Some solutions would be to use flash, convert the image to black and white or try to capture an image when the subject is facing a naturally lit window. Personally I avoid shooting this chaotic places like those in generally unless I have to.
