I would never sell my 135 L as it is my first choice for outdoor portraits on full frame. I sold my 70-200 f/2.8 IS II since it rarely got used due to the weight and my preference for primes (I mainly shoot portraits). I picked up a 70-200 f/4 IS for the times I need the versatility of a zoom lens. On the other hand, I rarely use ultra wide lenses, so my preference for the 135 L. YMMV.

my 70-200 doesn't get a ton of use either (albeit more than the 135), but when I do need it, there is no other lens in my kit that can even come close to replacing it. Between the zoom range, IS, and 200mm reach, I find it very difficult to beat. A few days after I first bought the 70-200, I told myself this will probably be the one lens I never sell...3yrs later I still feel the same way. Nothing else I own even comes close to taking it's place for when I need reach and/or versatility.

I already have the For Sale thread written...maybe I'll bring myself to actually post it tonight :-)

I guess it really depends on what you like to shoot. Considering you don't use the 135 L much and you want an ultra wide, I would just go for it. You can always pick up another 135 L if you really miss it. You will have a well rounded kit considering you will still have the 85 f 1.8 for a lightweight portrait option.

It's officially posted. It's amazing how you can feel almost emotionally attached to an inanimate object.

The more I think about it, the more I think I will appreciate having a nice wide angle lens. Just in recent memory, I can specifically recall at least half a dozen times when I wished I had something wider than 24mm to capture a landscape, or a subject within the larger context of the surrounding environment. So I'm sorta ok with selling it...for today anyways

Once again, thanks to the forum for letting me babble and gently directing me through a decision.

Cheers

I literally just put the 135 in the mail about 2 hours ago. :-D Perfect timing...larger aperture AND image stabilization. It sounds like a lens to keep an eye on for sure.

If true, talk about a triple threat--24/50/135.

So it should be released by 2020. Maybe I can pre-order now to avoid inflation.
