Hi,
As the title says, is $200 CAD a good price for a Canon SX50 HS? Comes with original box, cables, manuals, discs, etc.

Thanks...
Al

Canon was offering refurbed SX50's for around $200 US for the holidays. Not sure if it's still available.

Assume this is a used camera? In good condition I would say it's a fair price.

If I'm off the mark, hopefully others will correct me.

Sounds like a reasonable price, assuming that the camera is in good shape and good working order, of course.

Glass half full...

It's still available, but the price is currently $230. All Canon refurbished products come with a one year warranty. I bought a Canon refurb G15 a couple of weeks back for $220, but it's now $250. I bought a Canon refurb Elph 110 last fall for $60, and love it.

Thanks folks for the info.

With the price of a refurb being $230 USD and the Canadian dollar being .80 USD, it wouldn't really be a good deal for me to buy refurb. I did end up buying the camera for $215 and am quite happy with it so far. Looks like a brand new camera and is supposed to have about 3,500 clicks on it. I already have CHDK installed for it and am looking at getting a Canon 270EX flash for it for $50. Going to pick up an extra battery for it as well.

It's a great little camera, enjoy.

What does CHDK do for the SX50?

One of the things it has is an intervalometer which allows you to do time lapse photography. And with the camera being able to bracket exposures, I want to try HDR time lapse. You can do longer shots than 15 seconds. It allows the camera to shoot RAW in DNG format. My copy of Photoshop CS5 won't read the RAW files generated by the camera. I've tried to update the camera raw for Photoshop, but it fails every time. Not sure what is going on there, so the DNG format works out just fine. These are just a couple of things off the top of my head, but it does add a lot of extras to shooting videos and photography.
