I try but I can't reproduce this. You did reload the new posts page, right?

Yes, I had actually stopped following that thread a week or more ago. I will try a reforce of the new posts page?

I just clicked the follow checkbox to YES that post, then reclicked it to NO, answered affirmatively to the popup, even checked the box for other notifications. I then went to the new posts page, and went down to page 3 to find this thread there, and it still shows FOLLOWED.

I have at least 2 other threads that acts the same way. Is there a series of rogue DB tracking records somewhere? Or is this a situation of bad cookie info at my end?

I went ahead and removed all POTN cookies, and relogged into POTN, and went to look at New Posts, it still shows followed on those threads.

Cookies have nothing to do with following threads. It's fully server-side feature.

I checked the relevant data and you are still following those threads. So this makes me think when you said "clicked the follow checkbox to YES that post, then reclicked it to NO" that there is a misunderstanding.

The checkbox is for setting notifications on/off. It does not make following on/off, just changes the notification mode. Tooltips tell you the same.

https://photography-on-the.net …php?show=threads_followed says:
"To stop following a thread or to mark all seen, go to the thread and click the text FOLLOWED, found on top of the page."

Please open page https://photography-on-the.net …read.php?t=1011912&page=1
Do you still see the text FOLLOWED there (meaning you follow the thread), or text FOLLOW THREAD (meaning you do not follow the thread)?

That would be it.

That is very, very confusing. In any standard user interface, a checkbox with a label next to it means that the label defines what the checkbox is, never would the text be one setting and the checkbox a different setting.

So now, there are really 2 different settings there, but one is a text indicator and one is a checkbox with no clarifying label, but they are next to each other. There should be 2 checkboxes "Follow thread Y/N Follow Notifications Y/N".

We have tried this on desktops apps in the past, and the results were always less than favorable. Thank you for the clarification, I have a few threads I need to unfollow. :)

I just use the "Follow + Owned" page. I put check marks in the final column (remove) and then click "stop following selected" at the bottom. I, too, didn't know that you had to click the word next to the check box when trying to un-follow from within the thread itself.

(yet another proof that no one reads the manuals :))

I am aware of the duality there. Desktop apps have all the room needed, here the space is very sparse.

What I planned to do (but did not have time) is to have it look as it is now, but when you click either the FOLLOWED or the checkbox, you'll get a combined dialog asking if you want to stop following, mark all seen or toggle notifications on/off. If there would be some icon for "notified" or "not notified" that would be fine, but I have not seen any.

It's not possible to paste a URL into the "NAMED URL" textbox using the latest Chrome/Mercury browser on an iPhone 5 or an iPad 3 (both running iOS 7.1.2).

Steps to reproduce:

  • Browse the forum using an iPhone 5 or iPad 3 (with iOS 7.1.2) and the latest Chrome or Mercury browser (landscape mode).
  • Open any topic.
  • Click on "REPLY", "QUOTE" or "POST TO THREAD" to open the post editor.
  • Click on "MORE TOOLS & COMMANDS".
  • Make sure something (text or URL) has been copied to the clipboard.
  • Click on "NAMED URL".
  • The onscreen keyboard will appear and the cursor will be placed inside of the "NAMED URL" textbox.
  • Tap & hold the cursor with your finger (the onscreen keyboard will disappear until you let go of the screen).
  • Let go of the screen. Normally a popup balloon should be seen now with the "Paste" option inside of it. However this is not the case. Instead the focus will just be on the textbox again (and the cursor is visible again).
  • Please note that this behaviour is also seen with similar tools (like e.g. the "EMBED VIDEO" tool).

Not a bug. Just a gripe really. When on my phone (as I am now) I'd like to see full screen images instead of the tiny images produced by my phone's browser? Is it possible for you to set it up so that if I tap on a photo I can see the whole image on my screen without the limitations of the browser I am using?

Tap the glasses on the right hand side on the photo.

That looks like it blows it up to a larger size than the screen. I have to scroll around to see the whole image.

I often do too, and I'm using a laptop. Small screens aren't suited to viewing large photos. We can't realistically expect it of them.

True. I was kind of expecting a Facebook style photo viewing. Maybe an Amass app is in order. ߘ

Due to the nature of POTN the 100% view ("a 100% crop") is important to have . In posts the images are scaled down if needed and then they use about 80% of screen width. What you ask is a 100% width view, and that is so close to what we currently have I think I have to say politely no to your request.

Fetch function, do not recognize any more 500px ?
500px blocking the fetch function ?

little problem with the "Fetch" ;)
In the past i put pictures from 500px like this one > https://photography-on-the.net …82&mg=367506&i=i101139556
and it was working super fine, i just put the url of the webpage and OHhh miracle the picture appear on super AMASS :)

Today i tried to put this one > https://500px.com …laborda?from=user_library (external link) (same type of url like usual) and it does not work, super AMASS is telling me that it is not a picture.
So i tried with some picture/url which was already on POTN from 500px and it does not work ether anymore (but the "old" one are still on super AMASS).

For me it's not a problem, if FETCH does not work i'll upload to super AMASS :-P ,
So Voila, it was just to report it ;)

Thanks Pekka for everything (we will never tell it enough) :-D
