I tried to get into street photography a bit, but I also had a hard time getting over the awkward feeling. I would usually attempt to snap pics from a distance without the person noticing, but of course they always seemed to look just as I was lowering the camera, creating an even more awkward situation. FWIW, I think snapping pics of strangers is much more socially acceptable in big cities like New York, Chicago, Miami, LA, etc.

Anyways, #1 is quite creepy and confusing. I'm not quite sure what's going on in #2. Looks like you a reflection in a puddle with the tips of your shoes? I think it could have been a cool shot, but nothing appears to be in focus. Maybe intentional? I can't really find anything interesting about #3.

Street photography and urban life is really tough, IMO. I see some images of the most simple, ordinary things that look amazing because of the angle/perspective, DOF control, or foreground/background composition. For example, a woman walking in a crosswalk...how interesting could that possibly be?( https://flic.kr/p/6VeL8d (external link) )

I assume it takes a really good eye and a lot of trial and error to be able to do the street/urban thing consistently.

With the impending forum closure, please consider joining the unofficial adjunct to the POTN forum, The POTN Forum Facebook Group (external link), as an alternate way of maintaining communication with our members and sharing/discussing the hobby while a new forum is being developed.

The girl in the frame would be better if you cropped all the distracting stuff off the side. I don't know what you're getting at with the middle one. It looks like one that should have been deleted in the camera. I can't offer anything about the window. It's competently done, but doesn't have any visual interest to me. Others may like it though.

I'm in the same boat. I'd love to take candid pictures of people while attending street fairs, etc. but just end up getting pictures of buildings. I just feel awkward. Thought about using ear buds and listening to some MP3 tunes while I'm snapping away. I think the 3rd picture is the most interesting.
