I've been fortunate this Fall and Winter to have attracted the attention of 2 Pileated Woodpeckers - one male and one female. Here are some captures of her.

1. At distance (approx. 35 yards) out perusing the trees behind the house....

Hopefully I'll be able to bring you some of the male too; and some of them together on the same tree as they often seem to prefer the same tree.

Steve ... nice shots. I "envy" your opportunity to have, not one, but a pair of these right in your yard. I have only been able to take photos of this species once from quite a distance away. I am still looking/hoping for better encounters.

Wow amazing that is one woodpecker I have yet to see around here. You are lucky to have attracted them. They must like the brand of suet you feed! LOL

Marvelous. I have suet feeders and have caught glimpses of pileateds in the woods around my house, but they never visit my feeders. Congratulations!

My first impresiin was the great colour range in these shots Steve, and that wide angle first shot was intriguing too. "my" pileateds never visit the feeders, they are always at least 35 feet up a tree 75 feet away.
