Speedlite 580 EX Battery Issues

I use the enegizer and Monster. I get about 140 out of the Monster easily and the Enegizer about the same. I do however find them extreamly hot when I take them out.

I contacted Canon regarding the problem and was told to use good quality AA's and use the battery pack CP-E2 with the rechargeables. I do alot of performing art events and concerts. I pop off several shots is a consecutive manner - 3 or 4 at times. I now use regular Energizer AA's with the battery pack of 8 2500 mah Nimh batteries. I have set the 580 EX flash function # 7 to recycle from the external battery pack. I seem to get about 400 flash with immediate recycle time and no heat from the batteries inside the flash body, just a little warmth from the battery pack. Many thanks for your help & input...BTW the Quantaray batteries were properly disposed of!!!!
