I am doing some retouching work that involves simulating custom LED's in homes, (ie kitchen accent light). Any thoughts on how you would personally try to make realistic retouches in photoshop?

Right now, I am using the pen tool to create paths, I then convert my custom path into a selection, feather the selection by several pixels all around, and fill with a designated color (for LED). I then lower the opacity of the selection, but will duplicate the layer to increase intensity as needed.

Anyone else tackle this differently?

I've linked to a random pre-existing image off Google to give an idea of the end product.

Thanks!

Sounds like you have a handle on how to do it.
I'd say whatever tools you are most comfortable using to make the selections would do the trick.
The lighting filter in PS(if PS is what you are using) might save a little time(YMMV) of
coarse with modifications to achieve the desired effect.

If I was attempting the same, I would be looking for images on the web also for reference!

Thank you Douglas! I may try to dig up some tutorials on Real Estate Photography retouching also, as they might lead me in the right direction.
