Moved from my Canon T1i to the Canon SX50 a couple of years ago and really love how the SX50 does out in nature with the big zoom.

But I am feeling I am in need of a second "pocketable" camera that would work where weight is a factor and for indoors. The SX 50 isn't that great in low light conditions.

Ideally I would like a camera that is great for pictures and HD video, both indoors and out and works well in low light such as concerts. (My wife performs with Native American flute, so I like to capture photos and video)

The ideal camera from my research would likely be the Sony RX-100 iii, but they are beyond my hobby budget at present.

Any other ideas for a good pocket camera to supplement my gear?

Consider the SX700 which is being replaced by the SX710. The SX710 basically added more MP, which is not always a good thing for image quality, especially in the small sensor. Both use the Digic 6 processor, which is a good thing for speed and processing.

I already have a 50x zoom on the SX50 so not sure I need the zoom on the S700. I was thinking the s120 might be better indoors and in low light.

Well, yes the S120 would do the job. I recommended the SX700 on the assumption that you also wanted the zoom range. I realize now that your reference to the RX 100 III would suggest otherwise. I have a G9, G15, NX100, and NX20, but bought a Canon refurbished Elph 110 to give me a shirt pocket camera. The Elph 110 can do a great job when used carefully, so I imagine the S120 would perform even better, plus it allows for native RAW files. I have also used the Elph 110 with my Metz 28 CS-2 slave flash, and the combo produces great indoor images. On a recent trip I only brought the Elph and Metz with me, and was very happy with the results. You may want to consider a similar combo if only using an S120.

I recently picked up an S100 as a "take with me everywhere camera" when I don't want to lug around the DSLR gear. I've been very pleased with it for the low light performance and 24mm, and I'm sure the S120 would be very good as well.
