Anyone had bad experiences with CPS? I sent my 6D in to be serviced and have not been pleased. Firstly its supposed to be 5-7 day turnaround, it is day 10 and I just got an email today. The email had no description of what they found, just that it was out of warranty service and they were going to charge $255 pending my approval. One minute later another email stating I had been charged $255 again with no description of what they had actually done. So im mad now and call cs. He proceeds to tell me the charge is to bring the camera to factory standards but that they couldn't replicate the problem I was describing. So basically they charged me $255 without my approval for nothing. They haven't repaired it and now want me to send in my lenses. So im looking at another couple of weeks to send them in and hear back. The camera was purchased less than a year ago (still in warranty) but now I have to send in paperwork to get them to refund the charge for not repairing my camera. Really making me angry, im so glad I didnt actually pay for a higher level of cps, I would be furious.

Sorry to hear of your trouble. What do your lenses have to do with your camera that is still under warranty? What do you mean they "want"?? This is so far from the CPS that I know. I hope you get this resolved soon.

My camera was losing connection to the lenses. I would lose the red autofocus points and it wouldnt focus. I had to remove/reattach the lens and it would work again. I explained this to the cps guy before I sent it to them. It has done it with every lens I have so im sure its not the lenses. Just a pain. Im not going to send all of my lenses to them. I'll just live with it.

Which repair center did you send it to? They usually don't include much description of what they do in the e-mail invoices but the technician should include a writeup of what was done in the box with the camera. Also, it sounds like you have CPS Silver which is basically like not having CPS at all. With CPS Gold, the only time they're gone outside of the 3 day turnaround time was when they were out of stock of a part that needed replacing and in that case they sent me a loaner body. They're usually quite good in my experience, at least at the Jamesburg, NJ location.

Bodies: X-T1, E-M1ii, G9 Lenses: µ.Z 7-14 2.8, µ.Z 12-40 2.8, µ.Z 25 1.2, X 18-55 2.8-4, µ.Z 40-150 2.8, µ.Z 45 1.2, µ.Z 60 2.8, µ.Z 75 1.8, PL 200 2.8

All in-warranty work requires a dated proof of purchase in your name and bought from an authorized seller. That is the correct way to have the work done without you being charged anything. You should have sent that receipt with clear date and your name on it when you sent the camera in and that would have caused no problems at all.

Thats precisely why I called in advance of sending it. The guy I spoke to was very nice, and I told him it should still be under warranty, but he said nothing of sending the receipt. I will know better next time. Im really more upset about them charging me without even having a diagnosis of whats wrong, much less having repaired it. It would be different if they had found something and repaired it, I would have no problem with that. But when I have 3 different people tell me $255 is just a standard service charge, but none of them can tell me what the service was, I have a problem. They haven't repaired anything, so why am I paying $255, that's not an insignificant amount of money for nothing. Sorry to rant but this has really irritated me.

Sounds like you check that box allowing them to charge your card without discussing with you first. Don't ever, ever just give the right to charge your credit card without first providing you an estimate and description of the problem. Never, ever do that.

Techs in Joysey took care of my warranty claim back in 2012 without problems. Last year I became CPS Gold and hope to have similar experiences going forward.

sorry to hear your experience. I have sent stuff may be 100 times and no issues that I can remember. In fact, I got positively surprised a number of times.

If they charged your card without your authorization go back to your bank and fight it. Should be open and closed.

I signed up for CPS Gold a couple months back and had my 5D Mkiii serviced for the rubber grip peeling off. Upon receiving it back, it looked as if someone took a box cutter to the back of the body, of course I complained and sent it back off. Luckily, they replaced the damaged backing at no cost to me, but I guess they used a refurbished part because now my LCD was all scratched up... at this point I'm afraid to have them service anything... I kept it as is :(. I'm upset and disappointed to say the least, considering all the "good" reports of great service I read on here. Not a great 1st experience for myself...

Do you mind telling which CPS service center your camera was serviced at? Just curious.
