Some shots of White Tailed and Stellers Sea Eagles from south Hokkaido. All taken with the new 7D MK2 and 500 f4 Mk2 plus 1.4X teleconverter, handheld.

Incidentally these pics look like crap on Firefox but fine on Chrome, don't know what is going on there (maybe something to do with how firefox handles resolution, it seems to upscale them and they look blurry?)

These are not the tame ones in eastern Hokkaido, these ones are usually difficult to approach. However at this time of year for a short window they feed near an easily accessible bridge and 700mm is about the right focal length.

A lot of posts suggesting AF problems with the 7D MK2 but I'm reasonably happy with mine. Reading other folk complaining about theirs makes me a bit nervous though...............

These were with the bare 500.

Very nice. Regarding the focus problems reported with the 7DII, there are always such reports whenever a new Canon model is released. It is clear that it is not a general problem, since there are so many copies without any focusing issues. Also, Canon seems to be good at replacing any copies that seem to be problematic. I suspect, however, that most of the problems lie behind the viewfinder. Not all, but most.

Just to add to this there are also lots of 7Dmk2 owners with very low standards when it comes to a properly focussed image.
Not all, but a fair few ;-)a
These are a very tidy set with the last one being the best.

Thanks for the praise, do you mean the black and white ones? They are Stellers Sea Eagles, these are what some eagles look like outside North America! The brownish ones are both adult and young White Tailed Eagles. Both species are in the same genus as the North American Bald Eagle.
