No.
On POTN the metadata is very important. It helps other photographers evaluate and choose equipment as well as being able to learn the limitations of our own gear. With metadata available on photo's I can now search for specific images that for example use a 7dii with a 400mm lens. That's a terrific feature when I am researching new gear. POTN exists to help all levels of photographers learn and grow their craft. If I want to see pretty pictures I'll subscribe to pintrest.

Fair enough point. And as I used the comparison of painting, I suppose a lot of 19th cent painters probably did go and study other artists to see their techniques.

Wow, and I just made all that up. Glad someone bought it as my wife never buys anything I say.

Is there any future potential for the software to be able to automatically capture the metadata from the various sizes of Flickr images, rather than just the originally uploaded image size? I typically upload full size images to Flickr (partially as a means of an extra back-up file) and simply link to Flickr to display the image on the forum. However, with the 1024px limit, it becomes tedious going back and forth between two windows to add each exposure value and camera/lens info.

With the impending forum closure, please consider joining the unofficial adjunct to the POTN forum, The POTN Forum Facebook Group (external link), as an alternate way of maintaining communication with our members and sharing/discussing the hobby.

The image size for AMASS has increased to

Image Size Limits: Image must fit in a 1280 pixels by 1280 pixels box. (1280 on the longest side)

I think Flickr only retains the metadata in the original image, not the various smaller sharing sizes. I think I've seen lots of posts on adding pictures from flickr.

[B][FONT="Verdana"][COLOR="DarkSlateGray"] It still boggles the mind that some will take the time to hand write the information in their post as they must still be unaware of the metadata feature.

I do both - I hand write the metadata into my post, as well as:
clicking on the metadata boxes, picking the right brand and category of camera, visually searching and searching and searching the list of cameras until I find the right one, clicking on that,
picking the right brand and category of lens, visually searching the list of lenses until I find the right one, clicking on that,
clicking on the settings boxes, finding the correct settings, clicking on them, and finally clicking on "save".

Come to think of it, it takes me more time and effort to use the metadata boxes than it does to just type it in manually. It's just easier and quicker to write it into the post. But I will continue to do both for the time being.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I always think it interesting why people want, and sometimes insist on other sites, the metadata. If you visit a gallery of water colour paintings and the artist is there, would you approach him and ask what brushes he used, and what brand of paint? Can we not just enjoy what is produced?

If I were a painter, you bet I would ask the artist as many questions as possible about the methods he used, as well as about the gear he used. Then I would ask about how and why that particular gear is best suited to those particular methods. That's how we learn so much from what we see - by asking more about it.......if you don't ask about things and ponder them, then you tend not to improve your skills very much.

With image like https://photography-on-the.net …58&mg=175152&i=i234143115 you have all but the lens in EXIF, that is picked with one button "FILL USING IMAGE EXIF".

You need only lens and camera for gallery images, so if you have lenses and cameras you use in your gear list, you get a dropdown "Pick a Camera FROM YOUR GEAR LIST" and "Pick a Lens FROM YOUR GEAR LIST" in metadata editor and you do not need to browse for any gear.

Ok, thanks, Pekka.........looks like I will have to do a "gear list"! I never even considered writing a list of my gear before, but it'd be worthwhile to do so if it makes it easier to add metadata.

One other thing I have noticed about the metadata thing:
I have not seen where you choose the tele-converter that you used for the photo. I have seen where you pick the lens used, but do not know how or where to enter the T/C information. Is there currently a place for it, or is that just one of the things to be added to the next AMASS update?!
