Kristy, I'll bring the two AB800's, stands and softboxes, barndoor, background stand, two backgrounds (dark green with splotches and a grey/blue). I will try and get a diffusion panel set-up by then and drag that along as well.

Ryan - if you are coming - could you bring my 85mm, STE-2, and umbrella and stand. If time permits I'd like to try a multi-speedlite set-up. I'll also bring the the 420, 430, and 580 speedlites, tri-pod (heavy bugger with offset ballhead - will support the 70-200 with no problem).

Okay... get together on the 28th...... Let's say like 1:00pm? Does that work or should it be a little bit later?

We'll set up a portrait studio, and find a place for a macro table too... We'll talk about snacks and food because we all like to eat.. I'm thinking of bribing the hubbs into making burgers for us... and someone wants jello shots....>? What flavor is best? Something red...

Lots of animal ears to wear, and a tutu making contest... ..ooops.. I mean Hatch... you need to be ready to teach us about waterdrops.. I have some grass in my yard, but it's not that long.. I'll have to save a section from the lawn mower for a few weeks.... No daisies though, so we might have to visit Safeway for a pretty one...

HI RUTH!! Yes I'm yelling... It's noisy in here so sometimes I have to yell to get some attention. Welcome to the crazy AZ group...

hmm, I usually wake up some time after 1pm...but I guess I could make the effort :-P actually got vbs next week and the week after so hopefully I'll be back on a normal sleep schedule. :-)

ok my turn...Hi Ruth! welcome to the forum :-)

Cesar,
Push the button, I know Canon will do rebates again ... but when (and you go that long without the 70-200 IS?
Just think how bad you'll feel if you don't get it now, and hang around Tammie (she has a way with other peoples money) on the 28th and buy the lens without the rebate.

I think it's in your best interest to go ahead and buy the lens now... with the rebate, look at how much you saved!!!

Yay! Let us not talk about food, let us eat it! Please bribe hubbie. We could all bring chips or salads to help????? (PS Nice job on the Hatch RailRoad!)

Holy cow... I am holding a macro clinic? LOL No worries... can do! I will pick up a pink flower...I think it's Adams color? LOL Wait a minute... I'm the one who had the pink on at the seminar. :) Better make it red or something else. ROFL I will bring a few blades of the saw grass ( I think that is what it is called) when I come over. I'll bring a tripod as well...to make things easier on us. This is going to be a crazy class.

Off to bed... Hatch

Yay Thanks Hatch! Look forward to your clinic! :D

Who else can bring stuff? I have no macro anything... I have only 2 Ab 800's a large softbox, and brolly box (umbrella with a diffuser).. and 2 tiny shoot through umbrellas and 2 small light stands, and 1 large one...

I have a background stand and 2 muslins, and some black fabric, and some white vinyl that is only big enough for a little child to pose on.. and some plexi-glass that is about 4'x3'

So.... what else can we use?

I have two AB400s that I can bring! With stands and brellys of course. Also a couple of lights in reflectors as focus aids. I am sure there will be lots of lenses - there are three 65mm in the crew that I know of, one 180mm unless the Godess talked Russ into another one, a bunch of 100mm and quite a few tubes. There are also a number of shooting boxes. There are also a couple of platforms out there.... Guess we will just have to struggle with what shows up!

WOW!!! Every bit as much fun as say, watching paint dry. Are we going to get daily updates? ;) What kind of cacti are you growing, and how long before it can grow a decent flower?

it says saguaro, hedgehog, fishook barrel, dollar prickly pear, desert prickly pear, christmas cholla, cane colla, santa rita pear, cardo'n.

well thats what it says but they all look the same so far.

Hi AZ Photogs... I believe this may be some of the group that I met at the lighting class in Mesa several weeks ago. Hope you all are well. I see that you are doing a lighting clinic on the 28th and it looks like fun. I wanted to tell those of you who are portrait photographers about an event that I am participating in to see if anyone else would have any interest in helping.
There is an organization in the valley called HopeKids and it is similar to the Make a Wish foundation. Hope Kids provides support and encouragement to children who are battling cancer. On the 28th of July we are doing a family portrait benefit for the families and children of HopeKids. Often these families have little or no time and often resources are limited to have professional portraits done.... so HopeKids is doing a portrait day for them. Currently there are only 4 of us who will be doing the photography and we are anticipating as many as 85 families. If there is anyone who would be interested in assisting please email me at photofabulous1@msn.com (external link). I am definitely not trying to hijack this thread nor do I want to throw any monkey wrenches into your get together, but this is going to be an incredible event... a wonderful opportunity to serve others and I think we are going to need more help.

Again, hope you are all well. Blessings to each of you.

Barb

That's about half the cacti in the world. Your place is full of pr*cks, um, I mean your place will be full of prickly things. In a couple years you'll be able to make us all some prickly pear jelly. ;)

Welcome Barb,
A very honorable way to spend the day. I would be willing to pass on Kristy's day to help, however I do not have the equipment needed to do portraits. I'll put it out to this group that maybe we can combine the two events helping both the kids and us at the same time.

Can you provide to this group more info.?

An honorable event indeed... with all of our gear combined we should be able to set up 3 studios easily... (depending on backgrounds). It would still be a fun learning process with our lighting... We would still have fun shooting together and the gift provided to these families would be a charitable contribution...

Wanna take a vote..?? I won't be offended at all if we change plans and I can always check my calendar for another date.... Maybe August 18th depending on the birth of a baby that I'm shooting... she's still "cooking", but I think she won't be here until the 25th..... so it should be okay.
