yeah living around Luke AFB there are several places to get views off base to shoot them for sure... but then again it was a lot better on base for their airshow last year!

>>Hatch, love the 2nd drop photo with the air bubble in the water coming back up!

Rutha, Where to take the photos of the jet? We were in Yuma this summer and I got out my camera and starting taking shots of them doing touch and goes, well before you knew it the MP's were there and now I'm under investigation for suspicious activity at a military base. Was not a fun couple of hours.

My company got a contract to do work out there, we are replacing the runway lighting and I am taking pics of the wires in the different manholes, so when they call us off the runway and we have to sit on the taxi way i put the 70-300 on and snap a few pics of the planes.

ROFL !!!

Here is how I did it...

Glass dish supported by the side walls of the kitchen sink
430ex in a 1 gallon ziplock back underneath the dish set to ETTL + 2
530ex on the off camera cord set to ETTL - 2/3rds
Black construction paper as the background
Sigma 180mm macro lens
Canon 5D
ISO 200
F/16
1/200th a sec
Tripod and cable release used.

The 430x had a Rosco gel on it... lots of fun as you can change the color of the water to just about any color with the gels.

I posted a few more shots in this thread... different colors...

Very easy to do!!! Have fun with it and I can't wait to see the shots.
