oh well, be grateful you even have the opportunity to have nice things vs. people who dream of them.

So true. Although two small technicalities apply... American Express owns this lens right now, and probably will for a loooooong time, and I can only dream of the talent some folks around here have and manage to show with any gear they have to work with. :D

Hey Jay.... I meant to comment on your images... Awesome shots! I especially like the guy sitting down doing whatever work he is doing... lighting on that one is amazing, and your composition/camera angle works really well. :) The surf guys are pretty cool too! Fun times!

Hey PaQ... any chance of posting a larger size on that shot? Looks nice, but I'd like to see a little more of it... :)

Thoreau.... American Express is happy to take your money... and I'm sure UPS will show up soon enough. As for the talent/skill... it's simply called practice... some of us have to work harder at it than others.. but you can still get there. :) Or else once you find that special thing that you love to shoot.. then it just becomes second nature shooting it. Whichever... I'm sure you'll enjoy your new gear as much as you enjoy the journey. :)

heh, like kristy said we all had to work for it. I did a whole year at wdw in orlando and learned a lot, but I'm still learning even more :-) someday I hope to get good...:-)

My poor 40D.

I went hiking with my dog (110lb dane/rot/lab) at Lake Pleasant yesterday. Besides losing my car keys and backtracking for an hour to find them hung on a tree... I had my tripod set up when I was packing up - dog was tied up to the hitch - I left the tripod in the leash-movement-area.

Dog leash + tripod = fall!

Luckily it was only 2 feet up, but the 40D and 17-70 took a good hit. Smashed up one side of the dial... =P

Anyway, camera seems fine. It needed some battle scars anyway. Character and all.

Now we know the origin of the term "User" when it comes to grading previously owned gear. Sorry to hear but glad everything still works.

Picacho Shoot Day Trip - this Sunday 2/17 from 10am - 6pm

Hey AZPOTN Crew!

Tammieo, myself, and 2 other photo buds from the Refocus crew will be heading down to Picacho this Sunday to take some photos of the town and surrounding areas. The plan is to leave this Sunday 2/17 at 10am (or earlier if possible) and spend a few hours down there, and hopefully get back into town around 6pm.

I can fit one more person so please PM me and RSVP if you want to ride - first come first serve! Anyone who would like to drive is also welcome! To see the who, where, and what, just read below...

**Departing...
The Plan is to leave around 10am, although I'm hoping we can leave earlier if possible. For those who want to caravan/carpool, there's a Paradise Bakery on the southeast corner of Ray and 101 in Chandler (one block north of the Chandler Fashion center) where we'll be leaving from. If anyone wants to do breakfast/brunch, let me know and we can grab something at Paradise before we leave. For those who prefer to drive on their own and meet us there, here are the directions:

• Head on I-10 East towards Tucson and take exit 211A towards Picacho (you'll know you're getting close when you pass the Flying-J in Eloy)
• Once you exit on 211A, merge onto Frontage Road and take a left at S 5th St.
• S 5th St turns into Camino Adelante and you'll see the city as soon as you make the turn
*If you plan on driving, PM me and I will send you my phone number so we have a way to communicate!!
• Here's the map for reference: CLICK HERE (external link)

**What to bring...
• Camera, tripod, flash, fully charged batteries
• Water bottle, comfortable jogging/tennis shoes
• Hat if possible, it will be sunny (http://weather.ibegin.com/us/az/eloy/ (external link))
• Jacket just in case
• Snacks, there are a few food places down the street near Picacho where we can break for lunch.

**About Picacho...
Picacho is about an hour down the road and a section of the town is a small shanty area with plenty of photo opportunities of the old homes, rusted immobile vehicles, graffitied rail road cars, and surrounding landscape (Picacho Peak, Newman Peak, neighboring date farm, et cetera).

**Again, if you're interested in joining, simply PM me and let me know!! Also let me know if you want to hit up Paradise Bakery before we leave.

~Tomas

Post Scriptum: Sorry for the short notice, Tammieo and I had talked about the trip before then all of a sudden decided this about 2 hours ago! :D
