Tested out my new sigma 10-20 the other night with my friend's xB. I mostly do car pics, so I thought this lens would be a nice start :)

Cool shot Chris. James mentioned you had gotten the 10-22. We will have to set up a studio lit shoot at the shop sometime.:D I'm thinking about getting a tilt/shift lens soon. I just have to decide between the 24, 45 or 90mm.

Beautiful clouds! Was that from today? Man I love when the monsoons come around.. can't beat the sunsets!! :)

Last nights clouds were extra special because of the big brush fire on 107th Ave. The Sun was bright red looking twords the Sunset from Indian School around 6PM last night. The smoke really did cool things to the sky. I was without my camera

That always happens to me... Beautiful sky and either no camera, or I'm stuck in the city with no chance of clearing the rooftops...

He was selling some IS versions too, but they are already sold. He's got a couple of bodies if you click on the link....

rutha,

sweet concept and i dig the detail of the bullets in the chamber. the one thing that stood out was the light reflecting back washing out the black/blue of the barrel.

thanks for the feedback, I struggled with that. I had to get a lot of light down the barrels to light the bullets. any ideas on how I can get the lighting right for the muzzles and bullets?

A little "Environmental Portrait"

Caught one of my co-workers in a moment of repose and it struck me that this shows how much of a grind the NASCAR tour can be.

5D + 70-200mm f/2.8L IS
1/125 @ f/2.8 ISO 100

Like? Dislike? C&C at will my friends...
[EDIT] Let me know how the WB, Saturation, Contrast, etc look please. This was edited on a new laptop and on my end, even in sRGB, it looks dead nutz (as compared to the issues I was having with my now deceased Dell. My new laptop was built by Data Doctors in Chandler and so far, it ROCKS (for about $600 less than the aforementioned Dell...with specs that are roughly 33% better accross the board!!! ))

I'll just add my 2-cents on the subject... this coming from a gal who has no light meter and has been "winging it" for far too long... if the lights don't dim down enough.. just feather it.. It's a good thing to do anyway to keep it softer... :) That's the nice thing about light.. you can always resort to directing it around... so you really are never a slave to it.. you just have to realize where it is and what you expect it to do. :)

Thanks Kristy...

I'm saving my nickles for a trio of (I think) AB1600s, a Sekonic L358(?) and some PWs...

I know what kind of images I'd like to be able to produce with strobes but I'm sure I'll be hounding everyone with questions that will convince you all that I got hit on the head with a hammer or something and forgot every thing and any thing about photography!!

Have a great weekend all...

Jay, I like that shot! His look and posture tell me he has been running around all day and has finally got time to sit down and rest. Looks like he is thinking "I wish I could go to bed...in my own bed"

Jake,
what did you use to light the bullets? I would think a mini-mag lite (maybe with a straw mini grid - basically black coffee stir straws see strobists) would give you the directional light down the barrel, then work out the lighting for the muzzles.

Jay - the image looks good on my monitor. It must have been one very long hard day to look that tired. The glamourous life of NASCAR that no one sees!

Kinda late... but oh well. We had some "monsoon" clouds over Payson today that were pretty cool looking. I was at work and didn't have my camera with me, so I had to take this shot with my phone camera.

I just liked the cloud that looked like a mushroom cloud. :)
