OMG Hatch... I do not want to piss her off... she could kill me! lol Nice shot though. :)

WOOOO!!! We got our first Monsoon storm today!! Not much rain yet, but anything is nice. And to go with the storm... it knocked out my internet for a while. :(

Beautiful shot Hatch!

Many thanks all :) We had fun but you can only stay out in the heat so long before you begin to melt. I'll post some shots from the show soon...

Hatch Wow, you have reason to be proud. Great work on both your parts. I don't know about the 11 AM starts. I am an early riser - I wouldn't want to miss shots like these Arizona beauty's:

Hello friends, most of my experiance has been in nature/landscape and I want to get more into shooting people and events. When I set my in camera profile/preferances for landscape images I turn everything completely off ie. contrast, sharpening, saturation, hue... and then adjust for these in CS3 RAW.

What in camera preferance settings do you reccomend for event photography, people, and Potraits. I shoot with the 40d. Thanks for your comments/advise.

This is a repost of the Pyrrhuloxia. It was suggested to make it a potrait instead of a landscape shot and to tone down the contrast a little. What do you think?

Guerry, I like both the portrait and landscape style. the portrait because it shows off the bird more (not gonna try and retype that name :-P) and I like the landscape because it's still a good photo. the negative space is still nice since the bird is in the far third of the photo.

Randy - this is not the answer you're probably looking for but I actually do not set any preferences...did...not...know...you can do that :-P I don't really worry and I adjust everything anyway from raw.

I may be wrong but...

If you are shooting RAW, then in-camera settings have no effect except on what you see on the LCD...

Profiles (Portrait, Faithful, etc...) only work on .jpg files (which is what you are actually seeing when you chimp...)

Oooooh! I did not know that! So that's why it always looks WAY different on the LCD then on my computer. HAHA! :p

Really great shots Randy and Guerry!!! Love the tones Randy and the Quail is my favorite of yours Guerry. Wonderful!

A few shots from this evening... working on balancing the ambient light with the strobe... I need more practice... but it was fun.

I went in on my XTi and bumped up saturation and sharpness on the User Defined one because those are the first two things I always did in photoshop and it has been keeping those setting when I transfer the RAW file to the computer. The pics are coming out with better sharpness and saturation so I spend less time in PP, sometimes none at all. Like the ones from the shots down the barrells of my pistols got converted from .CR2 to .jpg and put up on my flickr site

nice shots hatch! which lens were you using? were you shooting around f5.6-f8? btw, it's weird to say but I'm jealous of your wife's arm definition and of her quads...wish my quads would get that big too...especially since I'm still affected by one not fully recovered yet...
