If you really get into wide, yes it's great. I just don't get into wide as much as some others. 24mm on my 5D is wide enough for me.:)

Hi all. Relative newbie here. Been on this site for awhile, but haven't done much in the ways of posting.

I just moved to Phoenix a few weeks ago and am really looking forward to the photo possibilities. If anyone has any great, lesser known photo stops, I'm all ears!

Great thread you all have going. Look forward to meeting alot of you at some point. :D

yeah I know. it really will affect my lifestyle now that I can't do anything sports related. gonna be weird. I just want the surgery now so I can start this long process of recovery and hopefully get back to what I used to do.

In all seriousness - I have had numerous surgical procedures on my knees - if you can avoid surgery do so. It is never as good as it was prior to surgery.

Tammie - Pleased to learn Russ will be joing us :D.

Geoff, your kitty looks so nice and soft and cute! When you post those macros, shouldn't you be asking us if it's sharp enough?

And Russ will be going on the Less Far South Adventure. He'll be driving, so it will take all 3 hours to get there.

Thank you - Lilly Bug is nice and soft and cute and playful. 8-)

???Ummm OK - I will bite ?- are the macros I just posted sharp enought?

Better three hours than not to have him along! Nice to have a standby Sherpa!

Welcome - The state is photo heaven - from the stars at night to the desert at noon - from the tops of the mountains to river valleys there is always something to shoot!

Enjoy.

I have a question for you all... I am on a quest (such a bug nerd) this summer to photograph dragonflies. Can you all point me in the right direction? I live in the West Valley... do you know of any rivers/ponds I can shoot at? Drving distance isn't an issue...

Thanks,
Hatch

Also the Phoenix Zoo and Papago Park area with it's lakes/ponds.

World Wildlife Park on the far west side also has some ponds. I've never been there, but do remember Tammie posting some duck pictures she took there.
