Speaking of Mom's ... that looks pretty close to how my Mom wants her green beans. She wants me to simmer that can of beans - with bacon - for at least two hours and I will usually accommodate her since we have green beans several times a week. Seems the past two summers I haven't seen very nice fresh green beans, but when I do, I cook them my way which is to pan fry some nice bacon til crisp (set aside and crumble), then saute some onion and perhaps some red bell pepper in the bacon grease. Then layer the onion, pepper and bacon grease over some lightly steamed (fresh) green beans. Gosh, I am hungry now and I am just coming down from a nice batch of home made lentil soup and cheese toast.

Anyways, that is a good looking steak Gene; plenty of flavor (fat) around the sides. Is that a grocery store steak or do you have a butcher?

Thanks. Believe it or not, I bought this ribeye steak and another that was almost Identical to it from Walmart yesterday. They were graded USDA Choice. I'll try to remember to photograph the 2nd one before cooking.

My mom was from Texas and she cooked everything well done. Until I got out on my own, I never knew cooked vegetables could be anything else but mushy...err, extremely tender.

Hard to believe I bought this ribeye steak from Walmart. It's USDA Choice with nice marbling. The one I grilled yesterday was even more marbled than this one.
