Obviously the resolution is impressive......wonder what the Dynamic Range is of this beast?

1.3x, 1.6x crop factor shooting modes..... interesting to see how canon implements that. Will this new body be able to use EF-s lenses?

I'd be willing to bet not.

It's all going back to the same source. I'll just wait and see.

I'm surprised at the maximum iso of 6400. I thought most cameras had pushed beyond that now.

So these cameras are supposed to be in addition to the 5D Mark IV? Not a replacement for the 5D Mark III?

My assumption is that that just cuts down the number of pixels to increase framerate. Could be wrong, of course.

An in camera 1.3 or 1.6× crop on this sort of specification body makes a lot of sense. After all the a FF 56 mpix sensor will have the same linear resolution as a 22 Mpix 1.6 crop. I can think of lots of situations where I would happily allow the camera to crop the image to improve both frame rate and RAW file buffer size. As this would actually be a crop you do not adversely affect the RAW data by having to interpolate sensel data as has to be done when using mRAW and sRAW in current bodies. It should not be to hard for the electronics to simply read the central chunk of the sensor instead of all of it. It could offer some rather interesting choices. Super high res slow FF studio and speedy crop sports/action camera all in one body. Imagine this sensor in a 1 series body. Where Canon have unleashed everything.

I'd be surprised if any 5D replacement were announced this year. Previous 5D's were replaced after at least 1-2 more years "in service" if I recall.

5D - Aug. 22, 2005
5D2 - Sept. 17, 2008
5D3 - March 2, 2012

5D>5D2 = 3 years, 1 month.
5D2>5D3 = 3 years, 6 months.

I guess I recall incorrectly then, thanks.

So...with doubling the count in the same FF area, each pixel must be smaller. Would we expect the camera to be noisier than the current 5D3 and 6D?

6D | 35 f2 | 50 1.8 | 85 1.8 | 28 - 135 f3.5 - 5.6 | 70-210 f4
