So I literally just snapped my oc-e4 cord at the shoe base for the flash.

What cord is stronger then the canon OEM one?

Can I even fix this OEM one?

Go to the part of this page that talks about OCC Screw comparison - Epoxy Reinforcement

I gave up on Sync chords after having the same dxperience as you did. It happened twice, the last time was the first time I used the chord.
YN622s are cheap, any reason you don't want to go that rout?

+1 for Micheal Bass and his long coach screws and epoxy.

But I had an OC-E3 let go on me, along its seam line, long before I'd heard of M Bass. My solution then was to abrade all the relevant internal surfaces and then pack the whole d**n thing with two part epoxy. Then re-screw and clamp until cured. It's still going strong - that was c 5 yrs ago.

My 3rd party ETTL cords have not failed - yet.

Generally it's one of the reasons why I like to lie my Speedlites down (a la Godox S bracket) whenever possible.

Well I ordered a vello ttl cord in the meantime. Gonna look into wending my oc-e3 cord in to this guy to repair.

Why on earth did canon not make this a metal housing with a rubberized foot or something to not ground it out.

I use a Vello OCC, very well made, no issues/problems.

Tools: Canon 5DmkII, Sony a6400, Fujifilm X100V
