I just want to say, congrats and awesome job to the AMASS Team involved with AMASS.

I am sure there are some who understand the effort it takes to do software but to those who dont, you have to know that this undertaking is/was huge and being that I am in the software (business application design/analysis/programming) I have say I am impressed.

A couple of things we all need to know and understand and appreciate
1) this effort took a lot of planning (it shows because it is really well polished and intuitive)
2) this effort was risky (it shows because there are a LOT of members and usage of this site and making a huge change to a community like this was surely with some risks)
3) this effort took heart (someone was passionate to make a change, led that changed, and delivered that change). Kudos to that person and team.

Lastly, I am very impressed for a couple of reasons
1) this site is fast. I mean very fast
2) there are a couple of features new in AMASS that I am looking for now in other web pages (left side click to top, fast page loads, easy on the eye color schemes and organization)
3) (this prompted me to write this post). This change and huge software modification imposed no unplanned outages. Really, really, impressed there.

Kudos to AMASS and the folks involved in making some happen here and taking the chance of change!

P.S. Part of me feels I could/should single out Pekka on this post, but unless I am mistaken, it took many individuals to pull this off, with Pekka leading the way. So, while I could easily mention Pekka in a lot of places here, I also want to recognize all the others involved (however, I do know know the names of all those others involved) and for that reason, I felt compelled to direct this post to the AMASS Team.

The design and coding are all Pekka's work. The only thing any other people did was test it.

Thank you.

AMASS is fast as it on most pages runs 70-80% with Redis, the database design is very unorthodox (sort of RISC philosophy), and data structures are very efficient. It was designed to run on just one server (can be sharded and distributed if needed), and handle a LOT more traffic than this with only one server. The engine has worked really well (knock wood) but it did take 5 years to complete. If this would have been a typical commercial project, the engine would be now called version 4.2 and AMASS would have been released 3 years ago with instabilities and resource hogging :)

Kudos to AMASS and the folks involved in making some happen here and taking the chance of change!

Even if I did all the coding, engine design and UI tools design, the driving force was (and is) to get the best forum software for the community. Without such reason to be and source of motivation none of this would have happened.

Only problem with working alone is amount of work you can do in one day (having a life, too). But as I know the engine so well, 1.1 (with tons of changes) took only 40 days to code (I work about 3-8 hours with AMASS a day not counting brain work), so working on even complex new features is pretty fluent. Lots of features are still not there, but work is ongoing. I'll do the update to 1.13 in a few days, it will have PM notifications and other useful stuff.

Maybe the button for the already-coded sort of posts by date&time of thread starter?

I just want to chime in here and say Thank You for all the hard work.

First itteration I was wishing for a way to collapse all the forums, and voila! it happened.

The other customizations that are available are wonderful and while it does take a bit to get use to, I like it.

Thanks again!

Very nice software. Well done. I know this was a huge project. Very nice result.

I just got my password reset, so, Thx for the addition there.

Off to go test the TFs patience and, of course, continue to avoid being banned.

I want to point out going to the top can be done on either left or right side click :-)
