FINALLY got a REAL lens! The shots below are with my new Canon 100-400L lens. The extra length and improved "L" glass makes the difference! It was a great day at the bird-feeder. I added a couple to my "Life List", a female Downy Woodpecker, and a Carolina Wren.

Looking good Mark, and I'm sure a lens with which you will capture many more!
Wrens are one of my favorites and I love the pose in the brush. Of course the dueling Wrens on the feeder block is pretty neat too.
Have a blast with your new glass and bring us some more.

I appreciate the comments Steve! There have been several Wrens around my feeder. These shots are just the first I've been able to capture that were of decent quality! Darn things won't sit still!

Congrats on the new glass. You will love it. I can sense your excitement.

The wren in the brush shot shows very nice how you picked out the bird and just focused on the eye between the sticks. I'm guessing you used center point AF. Well done. You're getting the most out of your new lens.

Have fun.

Keep 'em flying,
Greg B

Thanks for the comments Greg! I have been using center point AF for these bird feeder shots. And I am excited about the new lens. I believe that I have the right equipment now to learn and grow in this wonderful hobby! I have a lot of learning to do. But this learning process is a blast! Thanks again!

I also just got a 100-400 and boy is it great for yard birds! Now I just need to get out and find the less common birds.
