Nice mate.

Did you have a flash on stage? Looks like possibly from that first shot, but can't quite be sure.

Actually on these shots I did not use flash. I did on some of the others from this evening. The group does have some light stomp boxes that light up when they step on them.
You can see it best in the middle shot. My son the bassist is standing on the box with his left foot and it is lighting him up pretty well.
I have learned that my 6D is amazing in these low light venues. The focus can be a bit tricky, but the shots really turn out well at high ISO.

Interesting idea - have the band triggering show lights themselves... that's actually a pretty damn fine idea!

Haven't tried a 6D myself but i hear great things about the ISO on it.

Trust me, all that you hear about the 6D and the ISO are true. I have plenty of shots at 25600 ISO that are absolutely usable. I am currently looking for a fast wide lens to use at the shows. I can get away with my 70-200 F4 on occasion, but there are just some shots you need wider glass to get the composition you need. Most of my show shots are using the 85 1.8. I have a 17-40 F4, but I am really looking at something like the 24-70 2.8 or maybe a prime at around 30-35mm.
While concert photography is what I am really enjoying right now, there is NO MONEY at the level I am shooting as the bands are just coming onto the scene. But I will keep doing it since I really love the environment I get to shoot in.

Wow, at f/1.8 you are gonna have to absolutely bang-on lock that focus pretty accurately :)

Would certainly be fun to try tho!
