Alright, before I get a reputation, you should know that I do make other food besides sandwiches. It is just that circumstances have led to back to back sandwich events recently ;-)a

So, I am continuing with testing the Verilux HappyLight as an impromptu natural-ish lighting source and or fill light for home made food photography projects.

The sandwich - Rotisserie roasted chicken, thick sliced beefsteak tomato, crisp Romain lettuce, mayonnaise and toasted seven grain bread. I also had a small bowl of homemade lentil soup (I might post about that down the road) I love, Love, LOVE lentil soup - it is a meal unto itself.

Anyways, I seem to have struggled with the lighting a bit tonight ... maybe it was the sandwich, or perhaps I was not mentally focused on this - could of been I was hungry and wanted to get that bird in my belly. Whatever it was I don't think I am 100% happy with the lighting ... the good thing about these kind of mistakes is you get to eat them

Cheers folks

Lupo

insufferably pedantic. I can live with that.

This one looks good, too, like your award-winning ham and cheese. One suggestion: I would have tried a larger DoF, although it's unfashionable for food, in order to get more detail in the front of the upper slice of bread. The focus point seems a little far to the left, so that the rear chicken pieces are sharper than the forward chicken pieces.

PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | A FEW CORRECT SPELLINGS: lens, aperture, amateur, hobbyist, per se, raccoon, whoa | Comments welcome

LOL - thanks and also thanks to the powers that be for the award as well - I am honored.

You are of course correct about the depth of field used with the chicken sandwich image. I think I was trying to blur as much as possible the line created where the foam core and the table met. And now while considering the setup in hindsight I think I discovered what I did differently between the two sandwiches - therefore, thanks OhLook for inspiring me to look back.

Great looking sandwich Lupo!!! :D...

Agree with what OhLook said about DOF. Also for me, the white balance is a bit cool and not enough contrast / saturation ...
