I tried honing in on a new technique. Definitely an improvement on my past attempts with my 50mm lens reversed.

great separation of the flake , capture and detail

Thank you.

The new technique was putting a black carpeted car mat under the glass table that I use to hold the snowflakes. I also added an off camera flash and varied the distance to get the exposure I wanted.

Other than that, I'm still using the same basic equipment and setup as described in my thread Buffalo Snowflakes last year.
