Hello everyone,

Has anyone also been looking for an aftermarket focusing screen for the 7D2 specifically the
ones with Microprism and Split Image? I checked Katzeye Optics and they only have one for
the previous 7D. Has anyone tried the 7D focusing screen if it will fit in to the new 7D mk2?

I am also considering the Canon's Eh-S Super Precision Matte Focusing Screen but it doesnt
have any microprism or split image.

Anyone has any suggestions?

Thanks.

I guess no one has really thought about this except me... -?

By the way, reason for this is to use manual focus lens such as the Zeiss Distagons.

Cheers.

You might want to give Katzeye a call. Who else would know the answer to your questions better than the manufacturer?

Thanks. I did call them up and said that they dont
have any plans on making one for the 7D2.

She is also not sure if the one for the 7D will fit
the 7D2. And that they are having some issues
that she is actually selling the company.

lack of micro prism and split image focusing screens is my biggest gripe with current cameras. The only thing I can figure is that most people don't even know what they are so there is not a market for them. The message on Katzeye home page is not encouraging.

I totally agree with you. I am actually thinking of going extreme as to modify the focusing screens from
older cameras such as the AE-1 series to fit the 7D2....

i wonder if buying the original 7D screen for modification might be a better idea? Looks like they were only a hundred bucks.

if I had the cash, i'd buy one for my XSi so i could teach my kids MF.

That's is a good idea but adding the microprism and split image is the problem.
The older focusing screens from Canon AE-1 already has them, the only mod
probably needed is to cut it down to size and glue some tabs to make it fit the
7D2.

:)

Oh yeah, you're right! I thought you are talking about the regular 7D screens.
Let me give this a thought and I will see if this can be possible. Thanks.
