The wind was trying to blow the birds away today.

1)First up, a male Northern Cardinal. His feathers were blowing in every direction, but he didn't seem to mind.

2)And the ever popular Bluejay. Look at those spindly legs!

3)Where'd everybody go?

4)These boots are made for walking! With this much snow, everyone needs boots, including this American Tree Sparrow.

5)This smug Bluejay thinks he's cute!

6) Say what? Just a few of the flock of Bluejays that hang out everyday in my yard.

7)And a Pine Siskin looking a bit puffy! I only saw two of them, but it's a start.

The snow has gotten deep enough now that snow shoes are needed, but I haven't dragged them out yet! I'm really surprised that you do not have Cardinals, after all, they are called Northern Cardinals! They sure do brighten up my yard!

Thanks Peter! I know the quality is not great, but they were fun! If I could hold the lens steady, it would help!

Good stuff there. With that many jays I'm sure your yard is anything but quiet.

Looks like your yard keeps pretty busy Sandy even under the snowiest of conditions.
Your caption on the 2nd male Cardinal image is perfect; I'd bet everyone else is buried in that snow bank though!
I thought I had Jays-o-plenty till I saw your flock. As Mel said, I doubt there's much quiet to be had with them around.
I'd gladly send you some of my hundreds of Siskins if I could. I'm beating a pretty regular path to the bird seed store because of them :-)
Finally, I'll echo what Jeremy said.....way too much snow for my liking, but I'm glad you're there to remind me of that.

Thanks Mel. The Bluejays are vocal, but they are so funny when they start jumping up and down!

Thanks Steve. Yes my yard is very busy, as am I going from feeder to feeder to keep everyone happy. The snow continues to fall on a daily basis, so winter photography will continue for the foreseeable future!
