Hi, interested in some feedback about light and position of her - is it working?

I'll be helping my best friend shoot a calendar, which she needs for her final exam at design school. A lot of the fabric will probably be very weird, plastic and alike - so yesterday we were testing a lot of materials in the studio, this is one of the images (I think the calendar will be in color but sometimes I find the light easier to see, when converting to b/w).

The power is too high or the model is too close to the light.

Or the exposure needs brought down in post. Even then the light distribution needs to be more across the subject IMO.

Ah thanks, I see it now.

Just a quick edit, to remove the burned out spot on her shoulder. On the face I probably brightened it to much in post. And didn't do any skin correction..
I used a bare lamp to create a harder shadow, but guess it was too hard. Good to now what to pay close attention to, next time.

Looks better with the edit, I agree though with the comment regarding obtaining a better spread of light across the subject.

And with this, you mean the hard shadow at her back, right?

If I use a soft box or a reflector to lighten that area up, will the shadow behind her still be visible?

Shadow on the poncho or on the seamless?

I assume this shoot, if for a paid assignment would be a commerical product shoot, and not a glamor/fashion style.

With this in mind, you want to show off the product and have the model be very passive. This requires more flat lighting than you ccurrently have. If you would move the light to your right (while standing behind the camera) it will flatten the lighting out and reduce the shadows on the poncho and the seamless.

This effect could be achieved by adding more light sources as well.

Keeping the shadow on the background, I mean.
