.

Let's get creative with our bird photography!

One of the coolest things about photography is that you can create two images of the same thing, and get completely different results. So, what I am asking for here is for you to post two images of the same species of bird - but, the photos are to be as different as possible.

How can they differ? Well, that's up to you! You can have two photos with different lighting, entirely different color schemes, bird big in the frame vs. bird small in the frame, different habitat and vegetation, different seasons, individuals of different sexes and/or ages, in flight vs. perched.........the possibilities are endless.

I'll start things off with two images of Red-winged Blackbirds, each taken last March:

"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Yes, they sure are different, Chuck. That's exactly what I had in mind!

I really like the layered effect in the first image......there are the first layer of pintails, which are well lit and whose plumages appear distinctly. Then there are the 2nd layer of pintails, much further away, that appear shadow-like; form, but no color or details. That layering gives the image a really cool look!

This Egret was fishing in the river and catching them left and right. I decided to do some different things and got creative on the first image. Same day and I think same bird.

I'm not sure if these images are different enough for this challenge (excellent idea by the way) but as a bonus this is the same hawk photographed 2 months apart and it has the same type of prey (absolutely no baiting involved). Flying right and flying left.

Thanks Tom. I was going to use this one but there really isn't any way to prove that they're Pintails.

This eagle is one of a pair on our ranch that I have spent years and many, many hours trying to capture. I was starting to get their patterns down and one of them was getting used to my presence when they went and had an offspring and changed everything up.
This image is one of my best to date. :-D

This image was taken at the Scottish Games. The only reason I went was to see a golden up close and personel.
This is a female, but I forget her name?

Wow - the responses are awesome! I wasn't sure if a thread like this would get much of a response, so I am really encouraged by all of the images posted thus far. Thank you all for your wonderful contributions!

Keep 'em coming!
