I love the wood duck brood, John.
What a prolific reproducer that hen is!

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Thanks, Tom. I counted 7 different broods in a short (about .5 mile) stretch of a section of bike path that I regularly ride or walk. Usually they scatter to the far side or take to cover, but this one must have been proud of her charges and cooperated nicely!

A huge mess of birds at Fort Clinch State Park last month, different visions. One realistic, the other more artistic

Ooh. Hadn't seen this thread before.

The first one was a bit of an epiphany shot for me. I got into digital not too long ago and while I was spending a ton of energy learning the gear, in the back of my mind I kept thinking, I gotta learn how to work with gray. I live in western Washington and when it's nice here there's no place nicer. But most of the time, it's gray and wet. This picture showed me that the Washington sky could be used as a giant softbox. Once I figured that out, things progressed much more quickly.

Blue Heron in perfectly soft light.

Blue Heron, all beak and hackles and hard light.
