I liked this shot due to the way the lines of the shadow and the way the truss is peaking out of the tree line but wanted to see what others thought.

I like it, but I wonder if the creek in the bottom is necessary for this shot. You've got a lot going on up top, and I wonder if cropping the very bottom and right edge out, might work better. That would put more focus on the elements you mention, which I agree... are the strongest points of this photo.

I like the creek, as it gives context. However, I would also like the creek to be level. The tilt is unbalancing to the eye, especially when there's water in an image. It looks like you took the shot near sunset or just after sunrise. I wonder if there's a bit too much of a gold cast. Play around with white balance and see what you think.

Neat shot, I like it quite a bit! I especially like the trestle and its support disappearing into the forest.

I like the creek/river below, my eyes are led to it by trestle support, so if it were me, I probably wouldn't want to get rid of it, but I might crop somewhere near where the bend in the water is, to see what it looks like.

Also, did you purposely desaturate the sky? I think I'd prefer it to be a bit bluer.

Thanks for sharing!

I do like the shot and the diagonal lines. As someone stated below that your image could be cropped. The center line of the trestle doesn't seems vertical, so if you rotate it just slightly, the image will benefit from it. Now, if you crop the shot and position the center of the trestle according to the rule of thirds it may really turn into a lovely image.
I do have a question about the desaturated sky: is this image edited in any way or is it a SOOC (straight out of camera)? I would play with it and see what happens. And please post the edited image below :)

I agree with what the others have said, and this shot has great potential. The light is nice and there are a lot of interesting elements.

There's something weird-looking about the composition to me, because it's basically a line down the middle and a diagonal across the top third, with the nice creek only occupying about 10% of the frame at the bottom. If we break your image down, the trees and truss are your midground, the sky is your background and the creek is your foreground. But the foreground feels like an after-thought (which kind of makes sense because the lighting is so much better on the midground).

Is there any chance of a re-shoot? I think it'd look better if the foreground played a bigger role in the image, or if you can't reshoot see what it looks like if you get rid of the foreground altogether. Maybe if you got really low near the creek or tilted the camera downwards a bit to use the creek as a more prominent leading line through the picture. Overall, the pic could also use some additional punching up in post.

Hope that helps! I quite like this photo!

Good analysis. My first thought was I'd like to see more of the creek which I think would make it more of a traditional landscape.

Narrower might work too to give if more of an abstract feel.

The pic looks to yellow to me. Nice shot.
