is anyone here use their beloved canon FD lens on EF bodies such as 5D MARK II? I saw a flickr pool with all those people shooting with fd lens on dslr bodies. There are some sort of adapters out there but they said the extra glasses element will downgrade the image quality a lot. Are there any way to get good results? or any good conversion kit recommend? thanks for the help.

I have this one:

http://www.amazon.com …r=8-1&keywords=fd+adapter (external link)

It does have glass, but I its supposed to help with focusing to infinity. I have used it on a both a t3 and a 6d. There is some vingetting noted with longer focal lengths on the full frame.

Hope this helps, Dave

There are the Ed Mika conversion kits and adapters:

And alternatively these ones:

There is some discussion about these ones:

Furthermore there are cheap adapters that work with no internal lens on the very long FD tele lenses.

Tinkeres like me made lens mount conversions on Canon FD lenses as well. But since those conversions kits are avilable this is no longer the best option.

The EdMika kits are great but they cost about $100 and are only made for the FDn (New FD) lenses. They do not fit the older "Breechlock" FD lenses with the silver mounting ring.

Here is a little review I made after I converted my FDn 50mm 1.4 https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=16763752

I needed an FD>EF adapter awhile back to run some 'tests' on a bunch of lenses, and I bought one of the El Cheapo ones off ebay with glass. It was horrendous wide open, but stopped down a bit it produces useable images.

Would I recommend getting one? Sure. If you aren't after the native image quality of the lens, but looking more for the ability to use a certain focal length or speed that you have in FD mount but not in EF mount, it's one way to go. An affordable one for sure.

I am going to eventually get an Ed Mika for my 1.2 though...
