Hi there, I'm trying out a 7D2 this weekend via Canon CPS. Any recommendations on AF settings for basketball?

I used single point focus, case 1 or 4, back button focus when I shot bball with a 5d3. Custom white balance. Haven't tried the 7d2 for that yet.

I'm trying to dial this in too. Last week I tried case 4 and it seemed that my frames rate dropped. I hope others with more experience with the 7D2 will chime in.

Not sure on the 7D2 specifically... But with my 5D3 I find I get the best results using Case 6 with four-point expansion mode. I've also used Case 4, but 6 just seems to give me slightly better results.

I am using case 4 with tracking dialed back one notch toward "locked on". I use single point or single + 4 expanded. I also have anti-flicker enabled which reduces the drive speed slightly. However, the benefit to me is better than 1 FPS slower.

It was amazing using this camera, case 2 with AI servo worked well, and the expanded points (+4) kept images very sharp even as played occasionally slipped behind other players.

I tried out the Anti-flicker shoot setting, and without I got great bursts; but awful lighting due to the phase cycles. I enabled this setting, and the bursts were still fast, I didn't notice any delay; but absent were the lighting phases. Images were very clean. Amazing feature that seems to work very well.

The noise was probable less than images I obtained with my former 1D3; but not near as clean as my 6D. If the 6D had that focus system... or even half of it, that would be an amazing camera!

This is a few weeks back using my 6D. No noise corrections on any of these.

one more from the darker middle school gym, using my 6D. Obviously handles low light much better.
