I've been stuck in OKC for the last 10 days or so, been seeing a LOT of RedTails. I've taken a LOT of pics too, but these are the best so far. Canon Rebel 1000D, 75-300 Canon lens at 300, all at f/16, various speeds.

Just wish I'd gotten the whole upper wing.

I've seen a lot of Kestrals also, but always on the Kilpatrick Turnpike. Not a good place to stop and starting taking pictures. Hopefull I'm taking the grandkids to the Wichita Mts Wildlife Refuge Saturday or Sunday, should get something good down there.

Pretty nice shots of the Red-tail, Terry, and I feel for you on that wing, I do that all of the time. :)

When you're up at the Wichita Mountains Refuge, be sure to go to Elmer Thomas Lake across from Lake Lawtonka, I sit in that parking lot and 'usually' see Eagles there, I saw five one time, and three the next, they fly back and forth between the lakes there. I've also seen them at Quanah Parker Lake too, just keep looking up! heheh
Also, on the North side of the road where the Prairie Dog Town is on hwy 49, look on the fences, there is usually a Kestrel there, they aren't that skittish there, if you're quick, you might get a shot. The Northern Harriers are in the fields on the North side of hwy 49 too.

Nice job on the hawk, and good luck on your trip to WMWR, I love that place! :) (You probably know that place a LOT better than me, but I just wanted to help you show you grandkids, just in case)

Thanks. I haven't been in several years, used to go out there all the time. There's a little waterfall in the Charon's Gardens area I want to show the kids and hopefully photograph. It's a tough one, due to some rocks that block part of it. Google Post Oak Falls, you'll see some photos of it.
