When charging an LP-E6 aftermarket battery it will constantly flash. There is no 1, 2, or 3 beep to let you know the percentage charged. I usually remove the battery from the charger and reattach. Sometimes the battery will show the appropriate flash count, but most times it goes back to constantly flashing. Also, sometimes I will get an error message in the 7D2 stating something to this: "the LPE6 battery is not communicating with the camera", which allows you to select "Cancel" or "OK" and use the battery.

Anyone have this issue and no what is going on? I'm almost at the point to either buy new OEM batteries as I don't need this to ruin the cameras.

Thanks for any feedback.

I had the same problem when I tried to use an old (2011?) Maxtek battery in my 6D and charger. I bought the old Maxtek for use in my 60D and it works fine in that, and its charger. It just won't work in the 6D, or its charger. The 60D original battery works in both cameras and both chargers. I bought two new Wasabi LPE6s and they work in 60D/6D/both chargers. Go figure?!?!

I think Canon re-chipped the newer LP-E6 batteries.

I had the same problem with my 6d and OEM charger, Canon and third party batteries from day one. I now use a third party charger to charge all of my batteries and have no problems. In my case it was the Canon charger that was the problem. Go figure.

Good info there! I actually have tried the take off and put back which works at times. I would also switch to another charger (we have 4) and that would sometimes do the trick.

I had similar problem when I purchased a Duracell LP-E6 equivalent. I returned it it was replaced by another Duracell and that worked OK. Over here OEMs are about £55 the Duracell was only £18. There are some sites that warn that third-party batteries will not charge in a Canon charger

I'm looking at getting an aftermarket battery for my 70D. I've been using a Duracell in my 600D for two and a half years now without complaint, but I looked at the reviews on Amazon and a couple of users noted compatibility issues. They were in X series bodies. I'm therefore looking at Energiser, Ansmann or Hahnel, which have great reviews. I only buy straight from Amazon and not even fulfilled by...... Due to fakes. But I have a query. If amazon are out of stock but a fulfilled by vendor IS in stock at the warehouse and I order from amazon direct, would they borrow one from the fulfilled by vendor? If they did it might increase the risk of getting a fake.
