Early indications are that these cameras have the same Dynamic Range as the 5D3 which is very disappointing! Nikon will still have a 3 stop advantage over Canon if that's the case and that is a lot! Still hope it performs better since I think canon has better lenses than nikon but if you're going to step up to the plate with an expensive 50mp beast, we all would've liked a big improvement in DR. Canon continues to underwhelm with their sensor performance

I think I'll wait for a review first.

Me too, I've just watched 2 Canon execs say it would be about the same as the 5d3

From the other thread, they said it would be the same but have much better controlled noise. Will be nice to see some raws though.

This may be of interest...the new cameras have "a much lower noise floor" than the 5DIII. Approximately two minutes into...

I'm ok with the same dynamic range, but hope that you can open the shadows like you can on the Nikons.

lets see what its going to look like on a raw file at 6400 before we jump to any conclusions. We all know what the 1Dx does above 12800. school is still out until we see raw files

IIRC, the 5Ds series is intended for studios, fashion photography and such, where there is access to plenty of controlled light. It isn't really intended for photojournalism, sports and activities where high ISO is really needed. Hence, the limited ISO. I suspect if the camera is used in it's own ecosystem, the images will be jaw dropping.
