Feb 08, 2015 19:18 | #2 As interesting as the subject is, this shot is a little boring. There is a lot going on and the lighting looks off, as though it was a straight flash. I also think the crop is a little tight. "Smile, nod, and back away."

Feb 09, 2015 12:21 | #5 Any suggestions on how to improve , especially the boring part ? The shoe was up in the pines just off the lakeshore but not close enough to include in the shot .

JoseCanseco Senior Member More info | Feb 09, 2015 13:57 | #6 If this were shot from a different perspective, it might help. It looks like you came across this on a walk and just snapped a shot from standing our crouching position. Maybe if you had gotten the camera on the ground, you'd give the viewer an angle they wouldn't normally see, and you'd be adding some depth by introducing a background/environment. It's an interesting find, but with the shoe and pineneedles all on the same plane, there's no depth. My name is Jeff, not actually Jose Canseco.

I would put this in the category of technically proficient shots of cardboard boxes, although your whites are blown out. Joe
