Am I the only one?

I've been seeing lots of threads about the 70D, 7D2, 5D3 and now the 5Ds(R) lately. That's fine; new gear is always fun. I just want to find out if I'm the only person left shooting a 60D and a 6D, and happy with them.

I just wrote on another thread - I had a focus problem with the 60D that could not be solved without micro adjustment that the 60D does not have. I am very happy with the 70D and the 6D that I have no reason to upgrade to anything "better". Two great lightweight cameras that I use for travel and birding.

Nope, you're not. I have no intention of upgrading my 5D3 or my 1D4. They perform perfectly for me, so I have no reason to grab the the latest and greatest.

Nope there are tons of people on this board and within the rest of the photography community that shoot with even older cameras. This is a very gearcentric forum and you should expect to see a lot of discussion of new gear here. Don't let that dishearten you though, there is still tons of information to be had here, and no one(that matters) is going to judge you for using something a generation or two old. Unless that is you're expecting the gear to deliver something that it isn't able to deliver...

Heya,

I'm never oohing and aweing over the new stuff. I don't like the idea of spending $2k, $3k, $4k on something that is only truly marginally better than something else. I want a 6D, but I'm not willing to shell out the money for it yet, because I only want it for it's dynamic range and ISO performance, mainly the ISO performance, but I realistically don't need it right now so I haven't bothered.

In another 5~8 years, I might pick up and "old" 6D or 1D4 at that point.

For now, I'm completely content with my 5Dc and 1D MKII for my primary work horses. I dabble with my EOS-M and other various APS-C's.

If you are happy, with what you use, why worry? Spend time on other threads?

Still shooting with a 50D and 20D. Also loving my 'smaller' cameras when I travel light or shoot video.. No need to update in the near future.

I'd still be using my 60D if I had not had the first copy stolen along with all of my gear. Once that happened, I decided to get some gear that I would keep for long term and get insurance. I kept my replacement 60D for a bit, but found I was not using it. I sold it, along with any EF-S lenses.

I'll be fine with my 5DIII for years, to come, until it gets stolen.

6D and 7D here. I wasn't an early adopter on either of those bodies either.

I forgot to add that I recently picked up a gripped Elan 7 and a TTL flash, too (e-bay, $35). I like to burn a roll of film now and again. That is getting kind of quaint. And harder to get processed!

I'm also not sure what the intent was there, but if it was an age joke then may I tip my hat to you sir/madame. I have the utmost respect for someone that knows how to steer into the skid.
