competition? - which landscape to enter?

Here are a selection of recent landscapes.
I like to enter them into a local competition, but I am only allowed two entries.
Which would I choose?

#2 and #3 (accidentally clicked on 4 instead of 3 in the poll).

I agree, I like #2 & #3 the most

Funny. I thought 1 and 4 because I've seen a lot of sunset piers and a lot of b&w dune images before.

Like most 'competitions' it's best to know who the judges are and what they typically 'reward'. As casual viewers we may not judge the same way that they do.
In #1 I have difficulty deciding whether the main subject is the lupines or the mountain, and I don't care for the composition.
In #2 you have a nice sunset, but sunsets are pretty common.
With #3 the subject is again pretty common, so you need to make the most of composition and tonality. Were it mine, I would cut off some of the light foreground and flip it horizontally. I feel it would have stronger composition that way, and be one of my two choices.
#4 is my favorite. For the composition I would cut out the horse, and flip him horizontally so that he faces the sun. The rest is fine the way it is.

Just my subjective opinion. The opinions of the judges may differ.

#3 for me

They are all nice, but my favorites were #1 and #4, Although I would go with #4 as #1 feels to me like I've seen a lot of this type scene before.

I can't believe it. All the accomplished photographers on this site, and none of them has picked the two winners. It's 1 & 3! Jeesh.

What makes you think that no one has picked #1 and #3? I did so yesterday. In fact, #1 and #3 have received the most votes thus far, so the odds of one of the voters having picked those two images is actually rather quite high.

I think either #2 or #3 are winners.

I realize that Pelooyen only asked for choices. But, it would be far more interesting to know why each respondent chose the ones they did. Obviously all the pictures have merit, hence the fact that all received a significant number of votes. But, what swayed the choice? Was the choice objective, or subjective?

I did not vote for 3 because the lines practically make me dizzy.

I'm with 2 and 3. Very nice.
