For all the Mac users out there, Serif has released the beta version of a brand new editing software : Affinity Photo.

I don't use Mac but if anybody has feedback on the beta, do let us know.

Get it here:

Pretty neat if it works as well as the clip showed. I'll monitor this as I get bad vibes with beta software. Thanks for sharing.

I've fooled around with it for half an hour and so far I'm pretty impressed. It comes with a raw converter that does a decent job. Looks like these guys are serious about taking on Adobe with a low cost alternative. I haven't used PS for quite a while though, not since 5.5, so it's a bit difficult to compare for me. I do think it's better than other alternatives for Mac like Acorn and Pixelmator though and that's quite something, seeing this is only a beta. Anyway, just my 2 cents. YMMV.

I've been using Affinity Designer on and off for various vector projects since it came out. Downloaded Affinity Photo yesterday and spent about 30 minutes with it.

While neither of the aforementioned programs will compete fully with Canvas, Illustrator or Photoshop CC, I feel the price-point (Designer was $39.99) makes them a good buy for the hobbyist such as myself.
