I believe this has been suggested and people bring up that the name of site contains the word 'digital'. I even asked about adding film cameras to the gear list and got the same response about this being a digital photography forum.

Huh, this used to be a Canon only forum until a couple of months ago, with just a Leica thread, a Nikon thread, etc now it's opened up. I don't see the problem with having film as well...

And from a purely pedantic point of view -- a digital camera sensor is actually an analog device at heart - the voltage generated is analog, then goes through an A/D converter, as where film is actually digital from the get-go; grains either expose, or they don't.

Also, these days, it's really just an extra step, right? I'm planning to have my negs / slides scanned and then bring them into photoshop, so it's still a more or less digital workflow ;) I'm not planning to buy an enlarger and be fiddling around in the bathroom with a bunch of chemicals.

And as someone who has just purchased their first medium format film camera (and first film camera of any type for 10 years) I'd love to have a film section.

Sounds interesting, I have an EOS 3, but I don't use it much. Film costs so much now and processing is difficult, especially B&W. Good luck.

Which is strange to me since the only way to display an image on this forum that was shot with film is to scan it ... making it yet another form of digital photography.

Well, the dedicated Film thread, linked above, has been going for 5 years and still hasn't reached 5000 posts. Like many other forums people have requested, it has to demonstrate the traffic, not merely the desire to be separated from the "masses". Photos, regardless of how they're created, are all welcome in the Photo Sharing forums.

The Lieca Lovers thread only had 2500 posts over 4 years, and now Lieca has its own whole section with camera, lens and accessory forums...

That one thread doesn't allow opportunity for topic exploration. If there's a subsection, the threads will be there.
