I just picked up the Wacom Intuos Pro (Small) and this thing is amazing! The small tablet is $249 but I snagged it for $25 with my employee discount. Yes, I said $25...

If you don't photo edit with a tablet/pen, you should definitely give this thing a try. The ability to customize buttons on the tablet and pen make shortcuts in PS/LR super easy and saves me so much time. I also find my selections better as far as accuracy goes. Using brush tools for masking is also amazing.

You can see a basic review/tutorial here. This is the video that made me search for it. Then I found out my work carried it!

I just ordered the non-pro version. I won't get it until next week but can't wait to try it.

I agree! I leave the Wacom and a separate mouse both plugged in, so I can use whichever works better for a particular program. For PhotoShop editing, the Wacom is much faster and easier, and I never use the mouse.

I find myself doing a lot more than photo editing with the Wacom. Maybe its because it's brand new and I'm just excited to use it!

Been using a tablet for years. I've had several and much prefer them over a standard mouse.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Are you guys using it mainly on PS or also LR and everything else? I tried to use it with LR and I was too slow so it is collecting dusts.

I have been using mine for mostly PS, but LR works fine and other random things work too for speed of the process

I got the Wacom Intuos Pro medium size for Christmas from my gorgeous kiddos and love it. I use it for retouching, restoration and other PS jobs...love it!

How do you like the medium?
I have the small and even then had to set the usage to only about the top-left 25% of the tablet. I didnt like having to move my whole hand around to get the pen to use the full screen. Now my palm stays planted and with just a small swift movement of the wrist, my pen reaches all corners of my laptop screen.

actually, it's a little too large. I only use a small section of it. My kids asked me what size I wanted and had this stupid idea of having plenty of room...didn't do enough home work but it's OK. Other than that I love it :)

They'll have to pry my Intuos Pro (small) out of my cold, dead hands, and I'm not sure even that will work. I can't imagine not using a tablet, even my ancient (relatively speaking) Bamboo Fun is 10x better than a mouse. Especially for intense stuff like pixel level d&b.

...employee discount of $25 you said??? Holy crap.

Yup! $249.99 went down to $189.99 with the employee discount and then I had $165 in store rewards (points earned over time from working there).

Even my cheap and nasty Trust tablet is brilliant. I keep mine plugged in alongside a normal mouse. I tend to use the mouse for a lot of normal day to day stuff. I also use the mouse a lot in LR for moving the sliders around. I pick up the pen to use the Local Brush tools though. As someone said, simply brushing on a mask in PS is so easy. With the correct options selected regarding size and feathering, plus pressure sensitivity for either size of flow I don't know how I would manage so easily.

I'm using an old and tiny Wacom Bamboo, and I love it. I haven't even programmed the buttons or anything.

My only gripe is that in Lightroom 5, the spot healing tool can be used as a spot or a brush - and the tablet is REALLY sensitive, in such a way that it's hard to do a one-click tap for a spot heal, without turning it into a brush that's dragged 1px.

I don't use it for things outside of LR/PS.
