I have a strange fascination with vipers. They scare the heck out of me, but I still like them. I wouldn't even kill one if I found one in my yard. I'd try to capture it to relocate.

When I was about ten, my father and I killed a rattlesnake. The head stayed alive and aware for an hour. I felt horrible.

Anyway, these are all in Atlanta. Tough to shoot through glass, but with the right angle and using the timer and tripod, it's not too bad.

Friendly (?) viper

Albino rattlesnake. They don't fare well in the wild (too easy to see for hawks, etc.). This guy is handsome and scary.

Ok, not a viper, but he's more than happy to send you to your maker.

Nice set. The second one is killer, I guess it really is. The light fall off creates the proper mood for your subject. Maybe just a touch more clarity on the head, but really sharp and impressive as is.

Beautiful group of images Mike of often less than cooperative serpents.
I too think the composition of #2 is awesome.
I used to spend hours in the Herp House at the ATL Zoo as a kid, mostly with the snakes.

Thanks, everyone.

The reptiles make good models, in my opinion, because they hold still and there is good light on them. The downside is that the glass should be cleaner on the inside.

However, that doesn't matter anymore because Zoo Atlanta is building a new reptile habitat with a clear roof. The glass will be clean and scratch-free.

This is a very nice set...would love to see more! For me, the first image is a stand-out, mainly because of the expression on his face. Well done!

All beautiful creatures, but that albino Rattler is amazing. Love the lighting and detail.
